- First things first, download the CityMapper app
– It is a battery hog, so don’t accidentally leave it running when you don’t need to
– This will make getting around London MUCH easier
- London Underground (aka the Tube)
– This IS how you’re going to get around the city, so just do it…
– At the entrance to any Underground Station grab an Oyster Card, it will work on the tube and the bus.
– Get the card that charges per trip. You’re unlikely to need the weekly/monthly Oyster unless you live here and know how much you’re going to travel.
- Bus
– Easy on, easy off
– £1.50/bus/pp
- Über
– Download the app through the app store onto your phone
– Cheaper than a London Taxi
– Set it up with a credit card, no cash required
- London Taxis
– Everywhere, but expensive
– Download the GetTaxi app
– Often cash only, but they’ll offer to drive you to an ATM (cash machine)
- Walk
– London is a big town, but things aren’t always as far apart as you think they are
– It can often be quicker to walk to the next station than it is to enter the Underground, wait for the next train, and exit the Underground.
